Rock n´Roll / Vintage Shorts!

Dejen sus comments y sugerencias! :)

Hi there! I´ve had a very intense week but finally i´ve managed to make some time to upload some new pictures!
For today I wanted to show a very summery and easy-to-achieve look. The key to this look is in the shorts! These can´t be bought anywhere, they´re homemade… which is pretty good, especially during this time of the year when your wallet is broke. Grab a pair of old jeans, measure how short you want your shorts to be and CUT (use fabric-cutting scissors, not the one from elementary school). Don´t cut the pocket´s lining, since the idea is for them to stick out and be visible. I have the idea that they add a sexy and original touch (and if the lining is colored, even better!). If you feel like it, you can also rip and wear them out a little more for more of a rocker feel. And voila! New shorts for $0.
I hope you like the pictures! Ale, a really good friend of mine, was awesome enough to volunteer and take my pictures. We  ventured along the railways to do something more creative. After all, we were in “rocker mode” –a.k.a rebellious!-.
Leave your comments and suggestions!

Asymmetrical! Summer Style #2

Me gusta incorporar nuevos sonidos.

BONGO :)

Ojalá pudiese decir que soy skater! I wish i could say i´m a real skater! :(

One of the biggest and most important passions in my life, besides fashion, is music. I strongly believe that everything in life is BETTER with music. Tidying up my stuff, working out, driving, working, cleaning and waiting -among other things- becomes easier and even delightful to me while listening to music. In another time i fantasized with the idea of having a career in music, i even sang with a band named "Bonita Pietila", i loved it! But now i have music as a background and i enjoy it from another standpoint. If you have band suggestions, they´re very welcome! I like adding new sounds.
Now let´s get to it! For todays outfit i´m wearing a recent acquisition. My beautiful mother gave me a few gifts a few days ago and one of those things was this T-Shirt. I love it because 1) its stripped -love it!- 2) it says LOVE -cute!- and 3) its asymmetrical. I put the outfit together to go with this tee. To make sure it stood out, i paired it with a gray pleated skirt and matching flats. This outfit doesn´t show the real shape of the body, actually it creates a different silouette where fabric and shapes play together. Light and loose clothes like these are a MUST on summer... they provide freshness and freedom.
I hope you like it! Thanks for visiting my blog!

One of the most important people in my life is Vieji, my grandma. She´s an incredible woman and I happen to admire her in many ways… for her profound spirituality, for her commitment, for her energy, for her neverending thirst for learning new things and enjoying life to the fullest. She rides her bicycle, she´s also a life-long photographer (now with a digital cam), she uses Skype and is an excellent cook. What else could you ask of her? Every day spent with Vieji is unique. She´s always open to hear my ideas and what´s best she´s always supportive of me.
The pictures for this post were taken at her house. Together we chose elements to make them more interesting, such as the ladder and the old table cloth. As to the outfit itself I wanted to show how you can mix different textures without saturating a look. What´s important is to balance and connect the clothes. The top i´m wearing was Vieji´s. Cute, right? How about you... do you have a cool grandma like me? Have you ever taken clothes from her and reinvented them to fit your style?

HOME! Summer Style #1

Estoy FELIZ.
Life is GOOD. Enjoy!

I AM HAPPY. For a few weeks I’m visiting home, that is, Buenos Aires. That means that for a few days I get to enjoy my family, my house, my friends, my dog, my culture (food!) and all of those things than remind me who I am and where I´m from.
This time of the year is particularly nice here. Everything happening around me is confirming that summer is just around the corner. So today I´m wearing a very summery outfit. I´m a big fan of stripes, actually of the whole marine style itself, there´s a graphic element to it that fascinates me. It doesn´t matter if they are vertical or horizontal, I like them and that´s it. Do you like stripes?
The pictures were taken by a great friend of mine (we´ll go ahead and call her Pichoncey) at my place after a lovely day of sunbathing and swimming. Life is GOOD. Enjoy!

Hot Pink & Animal Print!

Today i almost couldn´t make it through my photographic mission. Like I said in my previous post, in Panama it rains a lot and today wouldn´t necessarily be the exception. Little does the panamenian sky care if I want to upload something new to my blog. And given the fact that I don´t have an umbrella here (and even if I did, to use it for my pics it would have to be very cool… like those clear ones with colored boarders! Hmm I want one)I had to find a spot where I could take the pictures without getting soaked. And then I remembered this narrow path i´d seen one day and I thought it´d be the best alternative. I think I wasn´t wrong. :)

What i love the most about rainy days is that they make all the colors pop. Plants look more alive and they take center stage.

I really like mixing a bold color, like this hot pink, together with black and a cool pattern. Try it out! it´s a great way of styling an outfit that goes beyond casual and predictable ones.

Coming soon... posts from Buenos Aires! :)

Falda de Jean Tropical / Tropical Denim Skirt

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

BYE! :)

For this post i wanted to feature a little more the tropical scenery that surrounds me right now. David is a relatively small city in the outskirts of Panama (close to the Costa Rica border); actually very small compared to Buenos Aires which feels like it never ends. It´s small streets are filled with stuff to capture in photographs. Colored walls, exotic plants, old signs and overgrown grass. Today a tropical classic: palm trees together with yet another remarkable aspect of these latitudes: rain (see clouds in the background).
As to my outfit for today, I went for something very casual. A denim skirt, a basic T, summery platforms and to give it a special touch I wore a scarf from my mother that i´ve loved for years. I hope you like it!

Camel + Yute + Flores // Camel + Jute + Flowers

- isn´t this tree amazing?
va o no va el collar? - yay or ney on the necklace?
AMO mi bolso de Puro! - i LOVE my Puro bag :)

Today i wore one of my favorite pair of pants. Do you want to know the reasons for this favoritism? There are three: the design is divine, I love the color and they are stretchy. But I think that the most important of its characteristics is the very last one, it has Lycra! I love wearing skinny jeans, but when the fabric is hard there comes a point when I feel trapped and I can´t stand it anymore. Does that happen to you? Anyways… a little while ago I started collecting these type of garments. If you haven´t tried it yet I encourage you to add a little spandex to your life!
Jute sandals are a total MUST for the summer… they´re comfortable and easy to pair. I´m sure they´re all over the window shops in Argentina. They look really nice with floral dresses, and also super cute with anything denim (shirt, skirt, shorts or jeans… try it out!).

I hope you like it!

And if you have any suggestions or comments, please write! fashionistarg@hotmail.com I´d love to know more about those who visit my blog!

Maxi vestido: femineidad renovada! / Maxi Dress: renewed femininity

Intensificá con un buen smokey eye make up.

Espero que les guste!

Con cariño,
Jannine

For this post i wanted to wear one of my most recent purchases, a maxi dress. It´s actually strapless, but in this case i wore a black top to build up the look a little more. If you like this silhouette I encourage you to see Valentino´s collections. You´ll find different versions of this same style to inspire you.
What i like the most about maxi dresses is that they create a very feminine shape. It reminds me of how, not too many years ago, this was the only garment allowed for women to wear. And it makes me think in all of the different versions and evolutions that this clothing piece has undergone. Wearing a dress is a way of connecting with that past.
There are many styles and colors; you just need to find one that goes with you.
For daytime: try wearing your maxi dress with flat sandals or flip flops, wear your hair down, use a crossbody comfortable bag and mixed accessories for a boho-chic look.
For nighttime: for a more sleek and polished look, try high heeled shoes, putting your hair up, one or two statement accessories and a small bag or clutch. Intensify with a good smokey eye make up.
I hope you like it!
Kindly,
Jannine

Shorts negros: día y noche! / Black Shorts: day & night

We found a locomotive! Nice to use as a photoshoot location, right?

English
I´m pretty sure that if there´s something that most women have in their closets, it is a pair of black shorts. They are a basic item for summer (and depending on the case, also good for winter if matched with a nice pair of tights). For this reason I decided to show 2 different outfits with the same garment, one for daytime and another one, with a little more glamour, for nighttime.

In Argentina, the weather is starting to change and summer time is getting closer and closer. Us ladies can´t wait for this moment to come… to be able to wear dresses, short skirts, huge and comfortable t-shirts, tops, fun and colorful prints, sandals, wedges, platforms and more.

In today´s post, our daytime outfit is composed by a bright colored blouse, a pair of black shorts and a pair of flip flops that have a special touch. The fact that the top part is bright and light gives the outfit a very daylike and casual feel. The flip flops have a strip of beads along the arch and an ankle bracelet. These elements transform them into a nice pair of sandals yet remain comfortable, like regular flip flops. To build up the look, its always a good idea to accessorize. I chose to do this by mixing golden and black colored items.
The nighttime outfit has some slight changes. I used a sheer black shirt, a pair of high heeled shoes (this is the only pair I have in Panama! ;( ) which slim down your figure, changed the earrings for a pair of shinier ones and wore a nice jacket on top that makes you look more formal and chic.

I hope you like it!
